Invoices and payments

How clients pay an invoice online

Your client opens the invoice link from their email and clicks Pay to pay by card or bank debit through Stripe. They don't need an account. The payment is recorded on the invoice for you, and the money goes to your Stripe account.

Online payment needs two things: an owner has connected Stripe (see Let clients pay online with Stripe), and the invoice's How the client pays is set to Online by card or bank.

What your client does

  1. They open the invoice email, or a link you sent with Copy client link.
  2. They see your company, the Amount due, the lines and tax.
  3. They click Pay and the amount, then pay by card or bank debit on Stripe's secure page.

They don't need a Sora Build login, and they pay the invoice amount and nothing more.

After they pay

  • Card payments show on the invoice within a minute.
  • Bank debits (pre-authorized debit or ACH) take a few business days. Until then the payment shows as Clearing.
  • When it's all paid, the invoice is marked Paid and your client's page says “Paid in full. Thank you.”

If you void an invoice, your client's link shows that it was cancelled and nothing is owed. For cheques, cash or e-transfers, see Record a payment.
