Schedules and tasks
Link tasks so one waits for another
Open the later task, click Add link to task (or press L) and pick the task it waits for. By default it starts after that task finishes. When the earlier task slips, the tasks waiting on it are pushed along.
Add a link
- Open the task that has to wait.
- Click Add link to task, or press L with the task selected.
- Search for the task it waits for and pick it.
On the Timeline you can also drag from the dot at the end of one bar to another bar. The task lists its links under Waits for and Next up, where you can remove one.
Link types on commercial projects
Commercial projects let you choose the link type and a Gap in days before you pick the task. A negative gap means overlap.
- FS · Finish → Start: starts after the other finishes. This is the default.
- SS · Start → Start: starts when the other starts.
- FF · Finish → Finish: finishes when the other finishes.
- SF · Start → Finish: finishes when the other starts.
Homes use finish-to-start links.
Good to know
- Gaps and durations count workdays, Monday to Friday.
- A link that would make a loop (A waits for B, which waits for A) is refused.
- When a task moves later, the tasks that wait for it are pushed. See Move tasks and shift dates.
- Links decide the critical path. See Critical path and phases.

- Critical path and phasesOn commercial projects, Sora Build works out the critical path from your task links: the chain of tasks where any delay pushes the finish date. Turn on Critical path in the Gantt or use the Critical path quick view. The Phases tab shows each phase with its own progress.
- Add tasks and update their statusPress C anywhere to add a task. Open a task to set its status: Not started, In progress, Blocked or Done. Choosing Blocked asks for a reason, so everyone can see what the job is waiting on.
