Schedules and tasks

Move tasks and shift dates

Drag a task on the Calendar or Timeline, or select tasks and use Shift dates to move them a number of workdays. Tasks that wait for them are pushed later when needed, and every move can be undone. Days count Monday to Friday.

Ways to move work

  • Drag a bar on the Timeline or a task on the Calendar. Drag a bar's end to change how long it takes. On a phone, turn on Edit schedule in the Timeline first.
  • Keyboard: in the Calendar or Timeline, select a task, then Alt+←/→ moves it one workday and Alt+Shift+←/→ finishes it a workday earlier or later.
  • Several tasks: select them (or press X on each), choose Shift dates in the bar that appears, set the workdays, and leave Also move tasks that wait for these on.
  • One task: Shift dates… in the task's … menu.
  • A whole project: on Projects › Timeline, open the project's … menu and choose Shift schedule…. It moves every open task.

What moves with it

  • Tasks that wait for the moved task are pushed just enough to keep their links. Durations stay the same.
  • Moving a task earlier never pulls later tasks earlier.
  • Done tasks never move.
  • On commercial projects you choose Push them too or Just this one. Moving a task on the critical path asks for a reason.

Every day count uses workdays, Monday to Friday. There's no setting for holidays or rain days yet, so shift the affected tasks yourself.
