Projects
Residential and commercial projects
Every project is a home (residential) or a commercial project, chosen when you create it. Homes get a Timeline and draw schedules. Commercial projects get a Gantt, phases, the critical path, baselines and every link type. The kind can't be changed later.
Your company can run both. Settings › General › What you build sets which kind new projects start as. Choose Both to pick each time.
Words that change
- The project: Home or Project.
- The schedule: Build schedule or CPM schedule.
- The bar chart: Timeline or Gantt.
- Trades: Trade partner or Subcontractor.
- The client: Client or Owner.
- The change log: History or Audit trail.
Tools that change
- Homes: a draw schedule for billing, and community, lot, house plan and elevation details. On a computer the schedule opens in Timeline. Links are finish-to-start.
- Commercial: a Phases tab, the critical path and float, saved baselines, all four link types with a gap in days, and contract type, retainage and architect details. On a computer the schedule opens in List.
You can't switch a project's kind after it's created. If you picked the wrong one, create a new project of the right kind.

- Critical path and phasesOn commercial projects, Sora Build works out the critical path from your task links: the chain of tasks where any delay pushes the finish date. Turn on Critical path in the Gantt or use the Critical path quick view. The Phases tab shows each phase with its own progress.
- Set up a draw scheduleOn a home's Billing tab, click Set up draws to start from the usual draws, tied to that home's milestones, or Add by hand. Each draw is a percent of the contract or a fixed amount. When its milestone is done, the draw is ready to bill.
